? The only way to eat Indian ?

Located conveniently opposite Clapham Common tube, this modern Indian restaurant offers a refreshing twist on Indian cooking. The d?cor is very futuristic, reminiscent of the set of Bladerunner or Westminster tube station, yet at the same time it is both relaxed and comfortable. The staff are extremely well informed and will help you with any questions you might have regarding any of the dishes you may not have come across before.

Perfectly crisp and fresh papadums with chutneys keep the rumblings at bay whilst you peruse the in-depth menu. The seafood specialities are well worth checking out, especially the Shorisha Ayre (a Bengal white fish cooked with mustard seeds in a thick onion sauce) and the Squid Roshoni (cooked with fresh garlic and tomatoes) or even the Garlic Salmon cooked in a delicious creamy sauce.

The signature meat dishes are what Clapham Tandoori really does pride itself upon though. The Suganda Chicken uses gently spiced tender chicken, simmered in Pernod with crushed green peppers, ginger, garlic, lemon, coconut and garnished with single cream or how about the Hash Massala, beautiful marinated duck cooked in a clay oven then simmered in a massala sauce with red wine.

There is a well sourced wine menu that the team have carefully chosen to compliment the dishes, a range of traditional Indian lagers (and English) and also a full selection of spirits.

Flat screens positioned around the restaurant play Bollywood films and there are some tables outside for al fresco dining and people-watching in the summer.

This truly is an exceptional restaurant that must be visited if you care about Indian cooking.
